5 Nerves of the Arm Flashcards
Musculocutaneous origin
C5-7
Musculocutaneous innervation
anterior arm innervating the following muscles: coracobrachialis, biceps brachii, and brachialis
Median origin
C6-8, T1 (sometimes C5)
Median innervation
muscles of the anterior forearm except flexor carpal ulnaris and half of flexor digitorum profundus, in the hand: 3 thenar muscles and 2 radial lumbricals
Ulnar origin
C7, C8, T1
Ulnar innervation
muscles of the ulnar side of the anterior forearm (the ones the median does not): flexor carpi ulnaris and half of the flexor digitorum profundus, the entire hand except muscles innervated by the median nerve
Ulnar and Median nerve distribution in the anterior hand
the ulnar nerve has the medial 1/2 of the ring finger and the pinkey while the median nerve has the lateral 1/2 of the ring finger over to the finger
Radial origin
C5-8, T1
Radial innervation
entire posterior arm (all three heads of the triceps brachii) and posterior forearm (extensor muscles), cutaneous over most posterior of hand
Axillary origin
C5-6
Axillary innervation
teres minor, deltoid, cutaneous over deltoid
