Why was Mary called Bloody Mary?
One of the most famous things that Mary did was burn heretics. A heretic is someone that practices a religion that is different from the generally accepted. So when Mary made religious changes towards Catholicism it meant that Protestants were heretics.
Mary officially burned at least 300 people (the number differs based on sources). This included Thomas Cranmer – the man that helped Edward pass through his religious laws.
