Why do we have rules and regulations?
It exists to protect the health and safety of children in out-of-home care.
Regulation
is a law, rule, ordinance, or other order prescribed by authority, especially to regulate conduct
Florida Law
a bill passed by the Florida Legislature, which includes the House and Senate, and signed by the governor of Florida

Who writes these rules?
Department of Children and Families’ Office of Child Care Regulation
adopted a handbook as part of the Florida Administrative Code to provide guidance and clarification in order for providers to implement the rules and regulations
Ordinance
a local law enacted by a county or municipality and only applies within the jurisdiction of the particular county or city
Department of Children and Families’ Office of Child Care Regulation
~ licensing authority and currently regulates licensed child care facilities, licensed family day care homes, licensed large family child care homes, and licensed mildly ill facilities in most counties in Florida
~ administer the registration of family day care homes not required to be licensed
~ provide consultation services, technical assistance, and training for child care programs and personnel
