decongestant
drugs that cause vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosa and reduce sinus and nasal congestion
antihistamines
drugs that compete with histamine receptor sites. They reduce allergy symptoms like runny nose, itching, watery eyes, sneezing, hives, etc.
Expectorants
drugs that liquefy mucus to promote easier removal of mucous from the lungs
Laxative/stool softeners
drugs that soften stools and/or loosen the bowels to allow for easier bowel movements
Mucolytic agents
drugs that reduce the stickiness and thickness of pulmonary secretions helping remove mucus in the lungs
