「〜だけは特別だ/例外だ」 (硬い言い方)

Used in formal settings, used with phrases/sentences outlining an exception. Usually, it is not followed by a negative phrase/sentence or volitional.
〜限り(は)
「〜の状態が続いている間だけは、同じ状態が続く。」

Preceded and followed by language describing a state/condition. Not followed by past tense.

Followed by a sentence that is presenting information or a determination.
〜に限って (three uses)
1)「〜は普段と違っている。」
Unlike how I usually do/it usually is, this one time ______

Followed by a sentence describing something that is different than usual, special.
2)「〜のことが、ほかの運が悪いことと偶然重なる。」
I was going to do this, but then this inconvenient thing happened and prevented it.

Followed by something negative. The sentence overall expresses the speaker’s dissatisfaction.
3) 「特別に信じている〜だから、悪いことはないはずだ。」
I thought of ______ as special and didn’t believe ______ could be the case.
N+に限って
Used in a sentence in negative form that conveys “this bad thing shouldn’t be the case…” in order to show the speaker’s conclusion.
