What sort of roles do human resources within a system carry out?
Entering data into a system. The ICT technician would maintain the computer systems. Programmers develop new software or produce web pages. A personnel direction would manage people within an organisation. A finance director would control finances.
What role does technological equipment perform within an organisation?
Computers, peripherals and communications links. CAM. Electronic point of sale (EPOS) machines (such as tills).
What roles would accommodation have within a system?
The buildings, offices and other property owned by an organisation. The location is important. Factories/retail outlets/car parks.
What sort of information is stored in the database of a personnel system?
Contact details, attendance including planned holidays, salary details, qualifications, training record.
What must the organisation be careful about with the personnel system?
Must comply with the Data Protection Act, so must include appropriate security to prevent unauthorised access. It must be regularly reviewed in order to ensure the data is accurate and up to date.
Personnel systems are often part of a management information system. What benefits could this have?
If an employee tries to book a holiday, the availability of other employees can be considered. The skill set of employees can be reviewed to choose teams to complete a project. If an employee has been absent a lot, the system can recommend talking to them.
What tasks are carried out by a finance system?
Placing orders for products, parts and materials. Paying invoices received from other companies. Setting budgets at various levels within the organisation and comparing expenditure against budgeted expenditure. Producing invoices to other companies.
What information will a stock control system hold?
Minimum stock levels that should be maintained, up to date current stock, re order amounts for each product, suppliers that can be used to supply each type of product.
How does the stock control system update?
Whenever the cashier scans the product at the ‘EPOS’ (till), the stock level will be reduced in the database. When it reaches its minimum level in the database, an automated order for replacement stock will be invoked.
