Q

What is the general distribution of grey vs white matter in the nervous system. What are the advantages of
white matter?

A

Grey matter is present in the edges of the brain and the internal part of the spinal cord, and white matter is
present in the interior of the brain and the external part of the spinal cord. White matter includes axons that
have insulation with myelin, and makes transmission of signals faster.

Q

What is referred to as climate change? What are some of the drivers of climate change? Mention three

A

Climate change as the name suggests indicates that the climate is changing, however the current change is
due to anthropogenic activities. Additionally, the change is happening at a fast rate which makes it harder for
many species to adapt.
Some of the drivers include an increment in greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide, which
causes the temperature in the planet’s atmosphere increases. This increment also affects the ocean; thus, the
average temperature of the ocean has increased in the past decades.
Examples: increase in extinction rates, change in species distribution, sea level rise, more severe storms,
hotter temperatures, increase drought or intense rain, melting of glaciers, etc.
