4.2 Physical And Human Processes Flashcards
Explain 2 ways humans have affected the upland landscape.
1) sheep farming: causes flooding because the sheep eat the plants
2) forestry: trees not being looked after and are overgrown
3) settlements: humans filling the countryside
4) tourism: destroys land and scars landscape with foot paths
Explain 2 ways humans have affected the lowland landscapes.
1) arable (crop) farming: it damages wildlife habitats
2) forestry: loss of hazel and chestnut trees
3) settlements: deforestation
4) tourism: shortage of local houses
Compare which landscape has been affected more? (Upland or lowland)
In my opinion I think that the low land has been affected more because when deforestation happens in the uplands there is nothing to interact with the rainfall so there is more rain that needs to be filtrated but then there is more surface runoff which causes flooding.
Compare rock/soil movement between the uplands and the lowlands.
The uplands rock and soil falls down to the lowland especially when walkers are treading on it and causing it to fall.
Compare the weathering that is found in the upland to the lowland.
In the upland there is is glacial activity where as in the lowland there is not.
Give a disadvantage of human activity in the lowlands.
Damages wild life,
Loss of hazel and chestnut trees,
Deforestation,
Shortage of local houses.
A negative of forestry is that…
There is loss of hazel and chestnut trees
A negative about arable crop farming is…
It damages wildlife habitatas
A negative of sheep farming is…
The sheep eat the plants which means there is going to be more surface run off which means the lowland will flood
Give a negative about forestry.
Forestry is when the plants are not being looked after and are over grown.
