What is the primary responsibility of the Missing Persons Detail?

What are the steps in investigating a missing suicidal Adult?
Use all available resources to locate the missing adult
If the adult has a cellphone, patrol supervisor will request a Kelsey Smith phone ping through Dispatch supervisor.
Contact Fusion Center for a workup.
Add pertinent details in to patrol briefing.
Hourly broadcast with description of the subject to all area commands (and vehicle if involved).
Obtain latest photo and upload into OnBase.
Obtain social media accounts and usernames/passwords.
Check area for video.
Make every attempt to locate the missing adult. If all avenues have been exhausted, complete a report for a missing adult and ensure they are entered into NCIC, to include if they are in possession of a weapon.
The case will be followed up by the Missing Persons Detail (notifying the Missing Persons Detail is not necessary).
What are the steps in investigating a suicidal juvenile
Use all available resources to locate the missing juvenile. These steps should be considered:

the missing person is under the age of 11, or has documented diminished mental capacity of and under 11; has a legal guardianship in place;
missing person has a physical or medical condition hinder ability to care for themselves, pose significant risk of death or serious bodily harm;
missing person is possible victim of foul play; missing person is threatening/attempting suicide; has potential life threatening situation;
is involved in a child custody situation where there is imminent physical harm or they could be taken out of state;
missing person is involved in a child custody situation and the purpose for response is to document the event in P1 if there is an already established active or ongoing family court case.
On what missing person events will a supervisor respond?

What investigative unit is called for missing adult or juvenile threatening suicide under volatile circumstances?
The on-duty or on-call patrol detective
Not threatening suicide under volitile circumstances.
Adults - The case will be followed up by the Missing Persons Detail (notifying the Missing Persons Detail is not necessary).
Juveniles - Notify the on-call Missing Persons detective for requested response.
What does supervisor do upon response to homicides and suspicious deaths?
Confirm with patrol that the death appears to be suspicious or the result of homicide and ensure CSI has been requested and ensure Homicide has been notified. (CSA requested on all deaths that are not natural)
What does patrol officer do upon respose to Dead Bodies Other Than Homicides, In-Custody Deaths, Suspicious Deaths ?
Determine the death to be other than a homicide, an in-custody death, or suspicious circumstances, and:
Secure the scene, gather witness(es) and related information.
Gather information related to the PR, witness(es), and/or immediate family.
Notify the coroner’s office via Communications.
For deaths that appear to be natural and/or deaths to which CSI personnel do not respond, photograph the scene to ensure proper documentation.
Detailed photos will be taken with a department-issued cellphone and uploaded into the Axon Capture app
Request CSI on all suicides, overdoses and other deaths that are considered “not natural.”
Maintain presence at the scene until no longer needed by the coroner investigator.
Complete the Dead Body Incident Report in P1 by the end of shift. Do not provide details of the death in the narrative tab.
What are the responsibilities of patrol officer/supervisor on a child death?
Upon arrival, when there is a deceased child at the hospital –
Secure the scene (including the residence or location where the incident started
If requested, allow parents/guardians to leave the residence or location and go to the hospital where their child was taken unless there are clear signs of physical abuse. Any family member requesting to leave and go to the hospital should be identified first.
If the coroner’s office is responding to the hospital, keep the family separate from the child
In clear cases of abuse, ensure that all parties remain at their initial location of contact.
Notify Abuse/neglect LT
In cases where the child victim has been transported to a hospital, the initial detective briefing will occur at the hospital
Supervisor will respond to the scene; ensure CSA have been requested, verify Homicide/Abuse/neglect has been requested; ensure that CPS has been notified
