Q
What will smaller scale deem as successful during rural regeneration?
A
- many rural residents are against regeneration because they moved to the area for a more peaceful and quiet life and regeneration often disturbs this. It is also unpopular due to NIMBYism
- it would be successful if: reduced poverty and increased employment, better access to services and more abundant retail and leisure facilities
- preservation societies would be content if little of the natural environment was impacted
- trade unions and chambers of commerce would be happy if gentrification did not take place and job security remained intact
