FRL 1
Little to no fire activity anticipated
FRL 2
Some “routine” fires anticipated. No more than 50% of resources expected to be needed at any given time. No difficulty in control or mop up expected
FRL 3
Very active fire day anticipated. Fire occurrence above average and difficultly of control expected
FRL 4
Fire situation expected to be difficult. There may be fires caring over from the previous day, new fires starting, and difficulty of control expected. All resources will probably be committed and assistance from outside the district maybe required
FRL 5
Fire situation is extreme and ability to respond well exceed districts capability. fires are numerous, large, and difficult to control and mop-up. Outside assistance will be needed beyond a 24 hour period .
Companies with considerable brush and urban interface fire potential shell size-up those areas with regards to the following areas:
Life hazards (school, nursing homes, trailer parks, etc.) Exposures Access roads Water supply Natural fire breaks
A structure may be deemed hopeless when one of the following conditions exist
25% or more of the roof involved
Water supply low
Personnel safety at risk
Structural protection
15 minute commitment
1 unit per structure in isolated areas
1 unit per 2 structures in subdivisions
Limit hose lay to 200’
In addition to LCES, the following guidelines should be followed:
Stay mobile Back apparatus in Don’t park under power lines Close apparatus doors and windows Maintain 25% of booster tank’s capacity for your protection
