Personal attributes are character traits or personality traits
What personal attributes are valued by employers?
self-motivation, leadership, respect, dependability, punctuality, problem solving, determination, independence, time management, team working, written numerical and verbal skills, planning and organisation skills
How can you display to an employer that you are ready for work?
Dress (i.e. appropriate clothing depending on situation)
Presentation (i.e. personal grooming, appearance etc.)
Attitude (i.e. can do attitude, responsive)
What is a professional body?
A Professional Body is an organisation with individual members practicing a profession or occupation in which the organisation maintains an oversight of the knowledge, skills, conduct and practice of that profession or occupation
What do industry certifications ensure?
They ensure that individual programs meet industry standards in the areas of curriculum. For example Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA A+ Technician, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
What are benefits of a professional body?
1) building a network with people in the same profession
2) identifying career opportunities
3) continuous professional development opportunities through seminars etc
What are disadvantages of a professional body?
1) fees can be several hundred pounds
2) time consuming to attend all meetings and events
3) does not guarantee a better job or more money
