4 Reactions Of Acids Flashcards
1
Q
What can acids react with to form salts and water
A
Bases such as metal oxides or metal hydroxides
2
Q
What does the self formed depend on
A
The positive ions in the base and the acid it reacts with
3
Q
What does acid reacting with metal carbonates form
A
Salt water and carbon dioxide
4
Q
How do you make a pure dry sample of a soluble salt from the reaction of an acid with an insolvable oxide or carbonate
A
- put acid in beaker. Gently warm the dilute acid using a Bunsen burner, then turn off bunsen burner
- at the insoluble reactant and stir (forming a sorrier ball product in the acid as it reacts)
- keep adding the insoluble reactant until it’s in excess(this shows all acid has been neutralise and reaction has finished)
- filter out X historical reactants to get salt solution
- convert into pure solid crystals of salt using crystallisation
