Q

How do you make a pure dry sample of a soluble salt from the reaction of an acid with an insolvable oxide or carbonate

A
  • put acid in beaker. Gently warm the dilute acid using a Bunsen burner, then turn off bunsen burner
  • at the insoluble reactant and stir (forming a sorrier ball product in the acid as it reacts)
  • keep adding the insoluble reactant until it’s in excess(this shows all acid has been neutralise and reaction has finished)
  • filter out X historical reactants to get salt solution
  • convert into pure solid crystals of salt using crystallisation
