4- Metabolic Pathways Flashcards
1
Q
What are 2 enzymes in the glycerol phosphate shuttle
A
Cystolic and membrane bound glycerol 3 phosphate dehydrogenase
2
Q
Describe the malathion aspartate shuttle
A
A hydride ion is transferred from cytoplasmic NADH to oxaloacetate to give malate, catalysed by
cytosolic malate dehydrogenase
Malate can be transported into the mitochondria via a malate α ketoglutarate antiporter, where it is rapidly reoxidised by NAD+ to give oxaloacetate and NADH, catalysed by mitochondrial MDH
