Q

Law of Segregation

A
  • Alleles account for variations in inherited characters
  • For each character, an organism inherits two genes, one from each parent (diploid) and only passes one on (haploid gametes)

Q

Law of independent assortment

A
  • Each particle equally likely to be transmitted when
    gametes are formed
  • Emergence of one trait will not affect the likelihood of the emergence of another trait

Q

Linkage

A
  • Traits on the same chromosome
  • Do not always segregate together due to crossing over
  • Reduces the rate of recombination but does not eliminate it completely (depends on distance between the two loci)

A
  • A and B alleles dominant to O
  • A and B co-dominant to one another (both expressed)
