Why did Hitler call an election for March 1933?
He hoped it would give the Nazis a majority in the Reichstag

February 1933, a week before the march 1933 election the reichstag was set on fire.
A Dutch communist, Van de Lubbe, was blamed
What Law was passed following the reichstag fire, what did it mean?
Protection Law, Hitler used the fire to convince Hindeberg that the communists were a threat to the state.
Essentially, all communists and enemies to the state were imprisoned.
How many seats did the Nazis win in the March 1933 election, did they have a majority?
288 seats, no majority. They had to form a coalition with the national party.
Which act was passed following the protection Law and when. What did it do?
March 1933, Enabling Act. It gave Hitler and his government full power for the next 4 years.
Why was Hitler able to pass the Enabling Act
Due to the Protection Law, all political opposition to the Nazis (e.g communists) were imprisoned, so few people voted against it.
