This law allowed a company sole control of all the tea in North America. Act let them sell the tea directly instead of giving it to colonial merchants who normally distributed the tea.

A

The East India Tea Company shipped tea to a number of colonies despite warnings. The colonists forced ships to be sent to NY and Philadelphia and turn back. A group of men on December 16, 1773, threw 342 chests of tea overboard

After the news of the boston tea party reached england, King George and parliament passed the coercive acts, which were harsh laws posed on massachussetts for resistance to the British Law.

Lexington and Concord

A

April 18, 1775- Dr. Joseph Warren sees british troops and rushes to Paul Revere. Paul alerts Wiiliam Dawes who alert all the colonists. 70 minutemen stand ready to fight and when it ended, eight minutemen were dead. British arrived and found that the gunpowder and other supplies were mostly gone, destroyed the remaining. People hid behind trees ready to attack anyone at any moment.

Battle of Bunker Hill

A

June 16- 1775- Colonel Williams commanded forces set up at the top of Bunker Hill. British decided to play differently and set up at the bottom of Breed’s hill. They see the british and fire heavily. British retreat but come back up. Colonists fire again and the British retreat again. Final time, colonists run out of gunpowder and surrender.

General John Burgoyne

A

Led 8000 troops to canada(British), and he surrenderred in 1777.

The Battle of Saratoga

A

General Burgoyne faces trouble after realizing the other British troops hadn’t arrived. General Horatio Gates cornered him with about three times as large troops and he surrendered on October 17, 1777. This helped the Americans make allies with France and Spain.

Smallpox Inoculation

A

During winter at Valley Forge, smallpox was a rampant disease that was killing many. The inoculation was when they took the disease from some people who were infected, and they put it on the cuts and wounds of other people. This let the white blood cells create antibodies to it quickly, and death decreased rapidly.

A

Washington’s troops set up camp at Valley Forge. They suffered from a lack of food, clothes, shelter, and the greatest challenge was keeping the army together.

September 5 1781- Washington was relieved after hearing that the British were thoroughly confused. The rest of Cornwallis’s army was in NY and was unable to help him. On October 9, 1781, the patriots won the Battle of Yorktown

Treaty of Paris 1783

A

On September 3, 1783, the Treaty of Paris had been signed after the British had made peace with France and Spain as well. Ben Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay were all representatives of the USA. Great Britain recognized the US as an independent nation.
