Usually starts in rectum & spreads in a
continuous pattern up the colon
Abdominal pain & bloody diarrhea
-fluid, electrolyte, & protein loss
Pseudopolyps/toxic megacolon
Inflammation & ulcers occur in mucosal layer (innermost)
-Doesn’t extend through all bowel wall layers
