Q

How is potential difference shared in a parallel circuit ?

A

The potential difference in each component has the same potential difference equal to the battery
For example
If the circuit is powered by a 12V battery, each component will have the potential difference of 12 volts

Q

How is current shared in a parallel circuit ?

A

The total current in a circuit is shared out between each branch
For example
If the total current is 6Amps and there is 2 branches
the current could be shared out in 3A and 3A
or 1A and 5A

Q

Describe the resistance in a parallel circuit

A

An increase in components in branches will lead to a decrease in total resistance because more branches leads to an increase in pathways for the current to take
Also
The total resistance is LESS than the resistance of the smallest individual resistor
