3.5 Data of Analysis Flashcards
What was the 5th stage of data analysis?
Select the most appropriate tool
Data tables
Databases are split into tables to allow for:
Easier viewing
Easier to update
Easier to manipulate
Separating data into tables allows for:
Simpler editing
Display of basic patterns
Data tables part 2
Allow for the most simplest form of pattern discovery
Good method of speedy, short term analysis
However
It presents data in its current format and cannot show changes or trends overtime
Visualisation of Data
Producing bar charts or graphs
Makes it easier to see trends and patterns
Bar Charts allow for quick interpretation
Trend & Pattern identification
Links to visualisation of data as it allow for:
Trends and patterns to be viewed as a visual format e.g a line graph of stocks
Trend & Pattern identification
What does statistical analysis allow for?
What happens if it’s done correctly?
Allows data analysts to examine numerical data
Can highlight relationships between different data elements (price of a product and how many have been sold)
Discovering links between variables is also known as regression analysis
Data cleaning
Ensures that any stored data is up to date and accurate
What does data cleaning do?
Reduces the size of any data table by removing:
Redundant, incorrect or unnecessary data
This makes it easier to work with the data table, Improving the data quality by removing irrelevant data
GIS / Location mapping
Used to add geographic data to any analysis
E.g an organisation can track the geographical location of items or staff (tracking the movement of shipping containers)
