anaphylactic response
severe allergic reaction that can occur when the body comes into contact too often with a substance that someone is allergic to.
exogenous substance/foreign substance
substance that doesn’t belong in your body.
artificial immunity
immunity because the person has been inoculated with a vaccine.
antigen
protein on the outside of a cell or a virus.
infection
penetration of pathogens into the body.
antibody
protein that makes pathogens harmless.

response of the immune system to a substance that someone is hypersensitive to.
vaccination
inoculation by injecting a vaccine into you.
natural immunity
immunity because the person has had the illness.

not getting sick because white blood cells are able to make antibodies almost immediately for a pathogen you have previously been infected with.

system inside the body that fights off pathogens.
vaccine
substance that contains a dead or attuenuated (weakened) pathogen.
vaccination coverage
the percentage of people who have to be vaccinated if the population as a whole is to be protected against a disease.
