Putting Prejudice into practice and treating people less favourably because of their race/gender/colour/class

The belief that some races are superior than others
What is the definition of Racial Harmony?
Different races/colours living together happily
What is a Multi-Faith Society?
Many different religions living together in one society
What is Religious Pluralism?
Accepting all religions as having equal right to coexist
What is Religious Freedom?
The right to practice your religion and change your religion
What is the definition of Community Cohesion?
A common vision and shared sense of belonging for all groups in society
What is an Interfaith Marriage?
Marriage where the husband and wife are from different religions
What is the definition of Ethnic Minority?
A member of an ethnic group which is much smaller than the majority group
What are the benefits of a Multi-Ethnic Society?
- Wider variety of cultural goods
- Make for a more peaceful world
- Increase racial tolerance
- Encourages cultural events
What are some problems of Discrimination and Racism?
People feel they no longer have a place in society, so feel isolated and lonely
What does the Race Relations Act state?
It’s illegal to discriminate against any person on the grounds of their race, colour, nationality and ethnic or national origin
