3.3.4 Critical Path Analysis (2/2) Flashcards
Network diagram
A chart showing the order of tasks involved in completing a project, containing information about the times taken to complete the tasks
Critical path
Main tasks
-The tasks involved in a project which, if delayed, could delay the whole project
How do you know what the critical path is
The EST & LFT are the same number always
Nodes are in what shape
Circler
Left number in node meaning
Node/Activity
Earliest start time (EST)
Where is it positioned on the node?
How soon a task in a project can begin.
It is influenced by the length of time taken by tasks which must be completed before it can begin.
TOP RIGHT
Latest finish time
where is it positioned on the node?
The latest time a task in a project can finish
BOTTOM RIGHT
EST & LFT are always the same at which nodes
First nodes (0,0)
And
Last nodes
On the lines/Arrows what is on top and below
On top - task/activity
Below - time/duration
EST is always calculated from where to where
From left to right
LFT is always calculated from where to where
right to right
Total float
the time by which a task can be delayed without affecting the project
Total float calculation
LFT of activity - EST of activity - Duration
Free float
the time by which a task can be delayed without affecting the following task
free float calculation
EST start of next task - EST start of this task - Duration
