3.2 And 3.3 Flashcards
What is a strong acid?
Strong acids are fully ionised or completely dissociated (in aqueous solution)
What is a weak acid?
Weak acids partially ionise or not completely dissociate (in aqueous solution)
Balanced ionic equation for neutralisation
H^+ (aq) + OH*- (aq) —> H2O (l)
What is a dilute acid?
A dilute acid contains a low ratio of acid to vol. of solution
What is a strong acid?
A strong acid is a high ratio of acid to vol. of solution
What type of energy does bond breaking need?
Absorbs and takes in energy.
Why type of energy does bond making do?
Releases and gives out energy.
Which energy is greater than the other energy in bond making and breaking?
More energy is given out during bond making than taken in during bond breaking.
