Q

How do spirometers work?

A
  • Person breathes in and out
  • CO2 absorbed by soda lime to regulate concentration of CO2 (can cause respiratory diseases)
  • Trace is drawn
  • Vital capacity, tidal volume and breathing rate can be calculated
  • Oxygen uptake can be calculated by the change in volume as CO2 decreases
