3.1.5 Spirometers Flashcards
1
Q
Vital capacity
A
Max air breathed in possible
2
Q
Tidal volume
A
VOlume breathed in or out in a normal breath at rest
3
Q
Breathing rate
A
Breaths per minute
4
Q
Oxygen uptake
A
Oxygen used in given time
5
Q
How do spirometers work?
A
- Person breathes in and out
- CO2 absorbed by soda lime to regulate concentration of CO2 (can cause respiratory diseases)
- Trace is drawn
- Vital capacity, tidal volume and breathing rate can be calculated
- Oxygen uptake can be calculated by the change in volume as CO2 decreases
