What are the levels of resistance?
compliant, obstructive, assaultive/life-threatening. It is important to consider factors such as medical conditions, impairments, language barriers, drug interactions, and emotional crises when addressing these situations.
Force situations are dynamic and require an officer to continually assess the subject’s actions to determine, based on policy, training, and experience, which UOF option will de-escalate the situation and bring it under control in a safe manner.
Force situations require continual assessment to choose the appropriate UOF option for de-escalation and control while prioritizing safety.
