3.1 Evidence Based Assessment Flashcards
What are the objectives of EBA
EPA aims to ensure: Reliability of instruments used Validity of instruments used Clinical utility of instruments used Appropriate instrument is selected That the selected instrument is correctly interpreted
Define evidence based assessment
EBA is an approach to clinical evaluation that uses research and theory to guide the selection of constructs to be assessed for a specific assessment purpose, the methods and measures to be used in the assessment, and the manner in which the assessment process unfolds.
What is the problem with the research base for EBA
There is currently little research on the EBA.
Hunsley and mash 2011 tried to operationalise evidence based psychological instruments
This was limiting because they develop criteria for the instrument rather than the assessment process
What are the future directions for EBA
Doing research on the EBA rather than EBI
Differentiating EBA a from EBI from EBT
