Macronutrient VS Micronutrient
Macro= large quantity
Micro= small ‘’
Nitrogen function
Chlorophyll, the green pigment in leaves, contains nitrogen.
Nitrogen Deficiency
-Yellowing of Leaves (Chlorosis), especially in older leaves
-Stunted Growth due to reduced protein production.
Nitrogen Excessive
Too much foliage growth but weak stems
Potassium Function
- Maintain plant turgidity
-Cofactor for some enzymes
Potassium Deficiency
-Edge of leaves become yellowish
-Premature death of plants
Potassium Excessive
-Nutrient imbalance in soil
-Interfere of other nutrient absorptions
Phosphorus function
-Synthesis nucleic acids, ATP
-Act as coenzymes in photo and respi
Phosphorus Deficiency
-Unhealthy root growth
-Dark green and dull coloured leaves
Type of micronutrients
-Cl
-Fe
-Mn
-B
-Zn
-Cu
-Ni
-Mo (molybdenum)
