2.5 Flashcards
What is compensation point?
Level of light intensity when the rate of transpiration equals to the rate of photosynthesis
Low light intensities
the rate of photosynthesis is too slow to meet the plant’s energy needs, so respiration exceeds photosynthesis.
At compensation point
the rate of oxygen production (photosynthesis) matches oxygen consumption (respiration), meaning there is no net gas exchange.
High light intensities
photosynthesis exceeds respiration, leading to a net gain of glucose and oxygen.
Photosynthesis VS Respiration
( type of cell, site, product, light requirement , reaction substance)
. Happens in cell with chlorophyll VS Happenes in all cells
.Chloroplast VS Mitochondria
.Glucose VS Energy
.Need light VS Doesn’t need light
.CO2 and water VS O2 and glucose
