A compound is a chemical combination of two or more elements in a specific ratio.

Like: table salt, NaCl, Sodium Chloride

What is a chemical formula?

A

A combination of symbols, that represent a compound.

For example… NaCl is the chemical formula for Sodium Chloride.

A number below the element means the number of atoms in that element. Na2Cl3 ( but the numbers are smaller and below )
