Sun gear input
Carrier output
Second speed reduction?

How do you get direct drive in a planetary?
Locking two members together
Driving to members at the same speed
When you have a planetary gear transmission with dual inputs. The output will be what?
Somewhere in between the two input speeds
What is tooth speed?
Refers to the number of gear teeth passing by a given point in a given period of time. And is measured in teeth per second
If you are rotating the both inputs at the same tooth speed but in opposite directions what do you get?
Neutral
2 clutch components?
Discs
Plates
What are clutch discs?
Steel discs that have friction material bonded to them. Either sintered bronze or a composite material
Where are clutch plates located?
Between every pair of clutch discs in a assembly
What type of clutches to countershaft transmissions use?
Rotating clutches
Powershift transmission control circuits?
Clutch application circuit
Torque converter charge circuit
Transmission lubrication circuit
Where is oil sent to first in a transmission system?
Shift selector valve
What can you do to move a machine equipped with a powershift or auto transmission?
Elevate drive wheels
Remove drive axles/ sun gear
Remove driveline/driveshaft
Functions of a transmission scavenge pump?
Take leakage oil and sends it to reservoir. Preventing overheating from oil build up
Speed selector spool?
Directs oil from the transmission charge pump to the speed clutches
Modulation relief valve?
Controls maximum clutch application pressure
Load piston?
Controls the rate of pressure rise in the clutch pistons. This is called clutch modulation and it is to prevent shift shock
What is another name for the relief valve and what does it do?
Inlet relief valve. Acts as a torque converter pressure relief by limiting max pressure inside the torque converter when oil is cold
