Imposed total package
A whole package of change, presented to the employees, senior management work out the restructuring and impose it on the workers, creates rapid change.
Potential of significant resistance, employees will not feel valued
Imposed piecemeal initiatives
A gradual approach, imposed by senior management in stages, gives employees more time to adapt, may offer incentive payments or non financial rewards for the successful implementation of change
Negotiated total packages
Agreement on the package of change through negotiation and consultation, can act as a constraint on the extent of the change, more popular with trade unions, ensures all members benefit from the change through negotiation
Negotiated piecemeal packages
Gradual implementation, negotiated at each stage, linked to incentive payments
