3.01: Cardiovascular System Flashcards
Where are the cuspid valves located?
between the atria and ventricles
where are the semilunar valves located?
outflow
what are the great vessels responsible for?
The inflow and outflow of blood from the heart
What are the coronary vessels responsible?
supplying and draining blood to/from the heart
What does the truncus arteriosus form?
Aorta and Pulmonary trunk
what does the bulbus cordis form
Smooth parts of the R and LV
what does the Primative Ventricle form?
trabeculated parts of R and L V
what does the primitive atrium form?
the trabeculated parts of the R and L A
what does the sinus venosus form?
smooth parts of the R and L A, and coronary sinus
Cardiac Skeleton
- dense CT
- contains annular rings and membranous septum
- provides attachment for heart muscle
- anchors valve cusps and maintains their shape
- physically and electrically separates ventricles from atria
what are all of the parts involved in the hearts conduction system?
SA node, Bachmanns Bundle, Internodal Tracts, AV node, Bundle branches, and purkinje fibers
Parts of the tunica intima
- endothelial lining
- subendothelial layer
- Internal elastic Lamina
parts of the tunica media
- smooth muscle
- elastic fibers
- external elastic lamina
tunica adventita/externa
collagen + elastic fibers
features of arteries
- rounder, uniform shape
- better definition of layers
- more muscle
- elastic laminae
- thicker wall but smaller lumen
Arteries vs Veins
- valves are never present in arteries
- some arteries travel with 2 veins (venae comitantes)
- often found as part of a neurovascular
