3. Wave-Particle Duality Flashcards
What is Wave-Particle Duality?
Wave-Particle duality is where a particle acts as a wave, and when a wave acts as a particle, this can be seen in certain interactions such as in The Photoelectric Effect of in Electron Diffraction
What is Electron Diffraction?
Electron Diffraction is where electrons are accelerated to high velocities in a vacuum and then passed through a graphite crystal. As they pass through the spaces between atoms in the crystal, they diffract just like waves would, which lends credence to the theory of Wave-Particle Duality
What are electron Microscopes?
Electron Microscopes are a new technology created from the technique of Electron Diffraction, they have a much more powerful resolving power than light microscopes so you can see things as small as a single strand of DNA
