3️⃣Photosynthesis Experiment🌻 Flashcards
What did the leaf half covered in tinfoil look like?
A small part of the leaf is covered with tinfoil so that sunlight cannot reach it.
What did the leaf half covered in tinfoil look like once the tinfoil was removed?
The part where there had been no tinfoil had photosynthesis, starch, light
What is the variegated leaf look like before?
It’s is a white Leaf with a large white circle in it
What did the variegated leaf look like after?
Green🟩 light and chlorophyll~photosynthesis~starch made
White⬜️no chlorophyll~no starch
What effect did the hot alcohol have on the leaves?
It removed the chlorophyll from the leaves making the ethanol turned green
Why was it necessary to remove the chlorophyll from the leaf, before testing with the iodine solution?
So that we can view the colour changes of iodine clearly
What difference did you observe in the colour of the leaf where the tinfoil had been?
The part covered in tinfoil did not synthesise because there was no sunlight
What was the difference between the before and after leaves 🍃 of the tinfoil experiment?
The Leaf that had tinfoil on it stayed yellow/brown 💛/🤎and the leaf that had no tinfoil changed to blue/black 💙/🖤when iodine was applied.
What colour changes did you see in the leaf on the variegated plant? Why?
The central part of the leaf that was green had chlorophyll, could photosynthesise and blue-black with iodine.
The covered up part did not photosynthesise because there was no starch
