What are the 3 P’s?
Photograph, Preserve, and protect.
What should the Initial assessment cover? (4)
- Health and Safety.
- Weather.
- PPE.
- Welfare.
What three things should you establish regarding key evidence areas? (3)
- The points of Ingress and Egress.
- Establish if there is any visible evidence apparent.
- Establish where any incidents have occured.
Describe the ‘photograph’ stage of the 3 P’s.
Photograph the scene as you walk forward, placing a stepping plate out of camera shot with each step.
Describe the ‘preserve’ stage of the 3 P’s. (2)
- use a scene tent or an appropriate sterile shelter to protect the primary scene.
- Place rigid sterile boxes over shoe impressions or similar.
Describe the ‘protect’ stage of the 3 P’s.
Use stepping plates to protect the ground as you enter the scene.
What forms of recording evidence are used at a scene? (5)
- Photography - DSLR and 360 Degree.
- Video.
- Drawn Sketches and Plan Drawing.
- CCTV.
- 3D modelling - for court.
What is direct evidence?
First hand, witness or confession.
What is circumstantial evidence?
Can be physical or biological - left at the scene.
What is FMIT and how can they help the CSM at a scene? (2)
- The Force Major Investigation Team.
