3. Electricity Flashcards
What is conventional current
current that flows from positive to negative.
What is charge?
Charge is measured in coloumbs
What is current ?
Electric current is the rate of flow of charge.
What is Resisntace?
Resistance is the opposition to the flow of electrical current, It can be calculated from the equation.
What is ohms Law ?
States that the current through a component is directly proportional to the voltage across it.
v = I x R
What is Resistivity ?
The resistivity of a material is defined as the same value as the resistance between opposite faces of a cubic metre of the material.
What is voltage?
work done per unit of charge
What are the properties of a diode?
threshold voltage is around 0.7 volts, current only passed in one direction
What are the properties of a filament bulb
non - ohmic conductor current affects the temperature more current means higher temperature
