What is a thesis/claim?
The main point or argument you’re making
What is a hook?
It is an opening statement (which is usually the first sentence) in an essay that attempts to grab the reader’s attention so that they want to read on
What is a citation?
It identifies (gives credit to) the original source for an idea, information, or quote that is referred to in a work
What is evidence?
It is information that you can use to support an argument
What is reasoning?
It is the way in which a writer explains how and why the evidence supports the claim
What is a conclusion?
It is the final part of a piece of writing, a discussion, or an argument that summarizes the main points and provides a final perspective on the topic
What is a counter argument?
It is acknowledging points that go against your main argument and then re-affirming your argument by refuting those points
