When does congenital hypothyroidism typically present and why?

A

usually around 6 weeks old presents w/ feeding problems, large fontanelles, hypotonia, large tongue, coarse cry, and frequently w/ an umbilical hernia. Also constipation. This is because around 6 weeks the circulating maternal thyroid hormone is depleted.
