2T-6 Flashcards
Can you fly single ship LL solo?
No
Daylight restriction
Enter no earlier than 30 min after sunrise. Exit no later than 30 min before sunset (1 hour for mountainous terrain for both)
Min Altitude
500-1500 AGL
Min Altitude from obstacles
500’ above w/in 2,000’ of a/c
Route width
5 NM either side of centerline
Min weather for LL
1500’/3 miles
Where will you transmit intentions if entering somewhere other than Waurika/Reverse LL entry point?
CH 255.4
What will you do when joining route while under Ft Sill Approach/FW Center upon cancelling IFR?
Contact Sheppard RAPCON for traffic advisories before switching to CH 255.4
LL Schedule
Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun: SRs 271, 279, Reverse SRs 272 278
Tues/Thurs/Sat: SRs 271, 272, 278, Reverse SR 278
Altimeter setting procedure
Use lowest from the FAMEF or RAPCON
Min heading change for a contract turn
> 30 degrees
What will you do for all pertinent towers?
Visually acquired and called out intra-cockpit or w/in the formation
Distance to maintain from airports when practical
1500’ AGL and 3 NM
When are turn reversals allowed?
To avoid entering IMC
Continuation Fuel
Fuel required to return to initial via the farthest radar drop-off point w/ normal recovery fuel
Bingo Fuel
Fuel required to fly at 200 KIAS from the farthest point on the route to the farthest radar drop-off point at 4,000’ MSL
RSU Launch Spacing
5 minutes b/w a/c entering 272 & 278 or b/w same route
1 minute spacing for different SRs
Call to Sheppard Departure (at SPS 030/9 or 090/8)
“Blade 11, passing 2,000’, VFR to Reverse SR 271”.
Altitude to fly to Waurika Bridge
3,000’ MSL
Altitude to fly to Waurika Bridge under restricted status
2,000’ MSL
Altitude to maintain until 1 NM past Waurika Bridge due to birds
1,000’ AGL
Procedure for entering route
When approaching the lateral limits of the corridor, aircrew will advise Sheppard
Departure/Ft Sill Approach/Ft Worth Center of upcoming frequency change. After receiving
a response, descend into the vertical limits of the corridor, change frequency to CH 255.4,
and squawk 1200.
Call when about to enter route
When approximately 1 minute away from the desired low-level entry point, make
the appropriate “entering” call on CH 255.4 (ex: “(Call sign), entering Reverse SR271 abeam
Rush Springs in 1 minute”).
When would you might still need an IFR clearance w/ a Shep pattern status?
Reverse routes
What do you do if you cannot maintain VMC at the lateral limit of route?
Ask RAPCON to descend to MVA
If VMC at MVA and able to maintain VFR to the desired low-level entry point,
cancel IFR, then descend and proceed with SR entry. If not VMC at MVA and 5 NM from
desired entry point, remain IFR and coordinate with RAPCON for an alternate mission or
return to base.
What altitude do you climb to when exiting route?
3000’ AGL or higher
How do you request IFR recovery?
Request appropriate pattern entry point/IAF and maintain VFR until IFR clearance is received
How do you perform a low level weather abort?
Climb with PCL MAX and pitch to maintain 140 KIAS to at least the calculated ERAA.
Once IFR clearance has been established, contact the SOF and downgrade the
emergency status to an early return, provided the abort was due to weather.
