5 methods of data collection
1- poll 2- survey 3- observation 4- interview 5- questioner
data collection : poll
- ask simple questions
- multiple choice
- 1 question (depends on)
- doesn’t collect demographic information and other details.
data collection: survey
- uses a questionnaire to gather data from a set of respondents
- provides insight of the targeted audience
- flexibility in length, question style
- analyses of the question: looks for trends, behavior patterns, forecasting
data collection: observation
- gathers data by watching behavior, events, or noting physical characteristics in their natural setting
- overt (everyone knows they are being observed) or covert (no one knows they are being observed and the observer is concealed).
data collection: interview
- used to collect data from a small group of subjects on a broad range of topics.
- structured (similar to questioner) or unstructured interviews
data collection: questioner
- simply any set of written questions.
- not concerned with delivery methods and especially statistical analysis
- collects standalone info
- collecting precise or legitimate responses from respondents is not a top priority.
Protocol of investigation
chapter 1 & 2
Chapter 1
1- problem identification 2- contextualize diagnosis 3- delimitation 4- justification 5- hypothesis 6- objective
chapter 2
1- theory
2- theoretical framework
3- contextualized diagnosis
c1 problem identification
introduction about the phenomena to study
c1 contextualize diagnosis
compare old finding with news (cite studies done before yours)
c1 delimitation
1- time frame:(when the investigation begin and end)
2- location: (where exactly will the investigation be conducted
3- procedure: (a step by step layout of the activities to be conducted
c1 justification
(explain why is your investigation important, why should we pay attention to you, we should do this because so that we can get support)
c1 hypothesis
(the expectation of what are we wanting to find in the study)
c1 objective
(what do we want to achieve)
c2 theory
knowledge before practice
c2 Contextualized diagnosis:
objective is to find who has done something similar to you in recent (5) years.
c2 theoretical framework:
introduces and describes the theory that explains why the research problem study exists.
