2nd Review Flashcards
What are the three modes of operation for Fuel/Oil Heat Exchangers?
HOT Mode COLD Mode Differential Pressure Bypass Mode
What is occurring in COLD Mode?
Engine OIL IS COLD, therefore the thermostatic bypass valve OPENS and most of the cold oil bypasses the cooler
What is occurring in HOT Mode?
Thermostatic bypass valve closes to route the oil through the oil cooler
What is occuring in the BYPASS/DIFF PRESS Mode?
The engine oil cooler is clogged and the higher oil pressure on the upstream (Oil inlet) side of the Differential Pressure Valve forces valve to open position
What does the SOAP test do?
Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program
- Collects engine oil sample 5-30 minutes after engine shutdowm
- Oil is burned, the photo multiplier tubes are used to check for metal particles
How many Magnetic chip detectors minimum per scavenge line?
1

Cold stream Cascade
What does the Thrust Reverser Interlock system do?
Stops pilot from using Reverse until throttles are idle
Whate are the 4 Different designs of FCU’s?
- Hydromechanical
- Hydropneumatic
- Supervisory EEC
- FADEC

Time Since Overhaul
TBO?
Time Between Overhaul
TTSN?
Total Time Since New
