No
What radio checks are required solo before takeoff?
Two-way comms with DI, checked both radios SERV (done before taxi or second crack at ORP/holding pt for phase 3 and 4)
Crosswind limit solo?
15 kts day and night
Can students Max performance takeoff solo?
Not permitted
Can students Max angle climb solo?
Not permitted
Can students EFATO practice solo?
Not permitted
Emergency handling solo?
Initial IA’s, once under control and if time permits contact DI.
Practice emergencies solo?
Only PFL’s by setting 5 psi torque to from a position to achieve high key.
Engine failure solo Pre-BHT?
track to high key. If below 2500 AGL, must get low key above 1500 AGL with gear down and locked.
- Otherwise Eject
Engine failure solo Post-BHT?
track to achieve left or right low key for duty runway with landing gear down and locked by:
1500 AGL or
1200 AGL when assessed
Engine malfunction solo?
Rejoin via forced landing pattern if conditions permit. At night, if not EFCU qual’d fly initial and pitch for full stop.
If marginal weather, instrument approach or divert with DI consult
How can solo students rejoin Pearce and Gingin?
standard initial and pitch for a normal or flapless
high key for duty runway PFL if <3 AC in circuit
final on instrument approach if curriculum/weather dictates
Can solo students do low pitches?
Not unless DI/duty exec approves due circumstances
Actions on runway change solo?
Depart circuit and rejoin unless otherwise directed
Orbits solo?
Not unless directed by ATC or DI
Can solo students conduct parallel runway ops at Pearce?
Not unless assessed safe on RWY 18R/36L. FLTCDR may approve sorties depart/arrive Pearce with Gingin circuits.
Solo AoA circuits and approaches?
Not at any time
Sideslipping solo?
Post-BHT down to 200ft AO on PFL or glide circuit only once endorsed safe in PT51.
Full stop landing solo?
Pre-BHT only normal, low level or glide.
Post-BHT flapless as well
When can fullstop solo landings vacate the runway?
4000ft normal
5500ft glide/flapless
(Unless EMERG dictates)
Day solo Pre-BHT/Post-BHT requirements?
For first two, have flown dual sortie that day.
For all others, have flown dual sortie within 48 hours.
Post-BHT = none
Requirements for first day solo
Be able to fly normal and flapless, overshoot from base and final, full stop. Complete pre-solo quiz Thorough knowledge of: -Fire on start -EFATO -EMERG LD GR EXTEN. -Blown tyre on land -Ejection drills
First day solo PTVA’s?
Conduct stationary in ORP or if unavailable, at holding point of duty runway.
Rolling takeoff solo?
IDLE or 20PSI for first day solo. Rolling takeoff when assessed competent for all other sorties.
Area solo requirements?
Demonstrate:
Safely depart and rejoin
Safe area operations
