2D Flashcards
What is physical security defined as?
That part of security concerned with active and passive measures designed to prevent unauthorized access to any Air Force resource.
What are some examples of Air Force resources that the Air Force tries to keep secure?
Personnel, equipment, installations, material, and documents.
What are the three areas that can be given limited access to establish physical security?
Control Area, Restricted Area, and No-Lone Zone
What is a “control area”?
usually requires some form of identification to get access; examples
would be the base, the medical pharmacy, and a server room in the communications squadron
What is a “restricted area”?
restricted by both a special access badge and a “purpose” for being
there; examples would be a flight line, the security forces dog kennel, or a classified facility like the National Security Agency (NSA).
What is a “no-lone zone”?
require personnel to be accompanied by a companion. That means you can’t be by yourself. One example is a classified burn or shred area. Two people are required to be in attendance while burning or shredding classified documents.
What is an active measure?
Active measures include the use of proven systems and technologies designed to deter, detect, report, and react against threats.
What are some examples of active measures?
Active measures can include barriers such as spiked gates, high fences, barbed wire, metal detectors, security cameras, armed security patrols, and military working dogs.
What are passive measures?
Passive measures include the effective use of architecture, landscaping, and lighting to achieve improved security by deterring, disrupting, or mitigating potential threats.
What are some examples of passive measures?
Passive measures can employ the use of hedges or ditches around a building, bright lighting, and limiting the number of entrances to a building
