John was made court of Mortain in Normandy and it was made sure John had no castles of his own in England.

What was the effect of Johns rebellion on England?
John gained the support of barons as they did not like William Longchamp and he started to run the country for himself. He was called ‘Regent’ and ended up running the country until 1194 because of Richard’s capture in his way back from the crusade.
He put heavy taxes on the country to pay for Richards ransom.
John announced that Richard was dead and that he was the rightful king, but he got caught out when a letter from france provided they had Richard hostage in the Holy Roman Empire.
