Liaison is required between the final consonants of ON, NOUS, VOUS, ILS, and ELLES and the first vowel of forms of AVOIR that follow them.
EXAMPLE
ON—A un prof sympa
(we have a nice professor)
VOUS—AVEZ deux stylos
(you have two pens)
when the final consonant is an “-S”, pronounce it as a “Z” before the verb forms
An INDEFINITE ARTICLE, whether singular or plural, usually becomes “DE/D’ “ after a negation
EXAMPLE
Je n’ai pas DE cours difficile
(I do not have a difficult class)
Il n’a pas D’examens
(He does not have exams)
AVOIR is used in certain set expressions where English generally uses “to be” or “to feel”
