A liaison is…
The linking of sounds.
consonants at the end of French words are generally silent but are usually pronounced when the word that follows begins with a vowel sound.
EXAMPLE
commenT—-Allez-vous
“S” or “X” in a liaison sounds like:

Always make a liaison between a SUBJECT PRONOUN & a VERB that begins with a VOWEL SOUND.
Always make a liaison between an ARTICLE & a NOUN that begins with a VOWEL SOUND.

Always make a liaison between EST (a form of ÊTRE) and a word that begins with a VOWEL or a VOWEL SOUND.
NEVER make a liaison with the FINAL CONSONANT of a PROPER NAME.
