How does comb construction is done?
Comb construction is done by honey bees afte
a complete plastic or beeswax foundation frame is
installed or placed inside the beehive or hive body
(brood box or honey super) during times of honey
or nectar flow.
The beeswax are secreted from the underside
of a worker abdomen and then manipulated to
form comb cells using their mandibles. In the
absence of a wax or plastic foundation, the worker
bees still construct their honey combs below the
top bar along the beeswax treated groove of the
wooden frame Figures 3.3a, b, c and d.
