A

1, Rage is a massive theme. They are watching riots and war. They are watching the modern war, the director present how society is rage. Also showing the anxiety about the society. And how money collapse, showing that money is nothing now.
2, The army, the solider are all full of themselves, exploring the threat men post on women. We could see that Selena is very vulnerable with men, however, very particular without men.

(Opening Scene-rage and Britishness, the wall and the missing people and the bible passage. Hidden message of how society are collapsing, and the idea off a group of men created a women)

Q

Opening of the scene; 28

A

Lab-
Camera= Riots, broken signal of radios. News-real style, handholding camera causing the orientation of the camera. We could hear the heartbeat, the horror of experimentation.

lighting= was low key lighting- typical of the horror genre. Red lights- the uses of red show danger,

Camera= the quick cutting of the champ banging on the cages- the extreme close up of the eyes, and what they are symbolise.
Immediate close up on Jim’s eyes show that he is not infected.
The airel shot show how vulnerable and powerless Jim is.

Sound= and where’s the nurse? The silent, the place where it is usually be very busy- empty costa. Low angle shot to show how tiny Jim is, a nice areal shot to show how isolated he is. W also get the souvenir all over the floor.

Camera= the red bus on the floor show the shatterness. The raising of panic to the known diegetic sound, as the music bring up to the climax, we could see the beginning of the first newspaper about the riot. This shows that not even the church could save you. The sound and the movement is associated with the women in the beginning of the scene. The zombie shading him, reflects the type of riots we see in the beginning of the movie. Significantly, this is the scene when Selena is debuted. (?)

Q

The Ending Structure 28

A

The end of the structure we could always refer it back to the beginning, when Jim woke up at a place he doesn’t know.

It look completely different compared to the beginning, it look like its more of a happier ending, the reason why this film is successful is because Danny Boyle end the film with happy ending. The ending of some horror is back to the original equilibrium.

Q

Opening Scene 28

A

Lab- The footage are not the best, it meant to be cctv and real life. Boyle is showing us how we are already behaving. The idea of witness, and that it is real. [Is Boyle exploring part of the horror convention now, or that it is real? To an extent that is social realism.
