25 Heart Vasculature Coupling Flashcards
What will contractility changes do to a cardiac function curve?
-Shift up or down with a “widening” of the shift as well
What will afterload changes do to a cardiac function curve?
-Shift up or down
What are the 2 variables in a cardiac function curve?
- Stroke Volume (or cardiac output)
- RAP (a.k.a. preload)
What effect on distribution of blood in the vessels will an increase in cardiac output have?
Translocate blood from venous to arterial side
What effect will increased blood volume have on a reversed cardiac function curve?
None, but the vascular function curve will shift up and right on its slope
What effect will increased venous compliance have on a reversed cardiac function curve?
Shift down and left
What effect will increased TPVR have on a reversed vascular function curve?
Down and left (with a “widening” on the left side)
Renin, Ang 2, Aldosterone all have what effect on BP?
- Increase
- Ang 2 also increases SNA, thirst, and sodium appetite by binding AT1R’s
What effect will Ang 1-7 have on BP?
-Decrease by binding to Mas receptor, antagonizing AT1R (the Ang 2 receptor)
Why is Atrial Natriuretic Peptide released, and what effect will it have?
- In response to atrial distension
- Vasodilation, sodium excretion (inhibit resorption)
